OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The Oklahoma Supreme Court on Thursday denied Insurance Commissioner Carroll Fisher's request for a delay in his Senate impeachment trial.
The decision paves the way for Fisher's trial to begin Monday at 1:30 p.m. It will be the first impeachment trial at the Capitol in 39 years.
Supreme Court Chief Justice Joseph M. Watt, who is presiding over the Senate Court of Impeachment, had previously rejected Fisher's attempt to stop the proceedings.
Fisher, 64, faces five articles of impeachment accusing him of neglect of duty, incompetency and corruption.
