OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ For the first time in the state's history, a flag honoring prisoners of war and soldiers missing in action is set to fly on the state Capitol Plaza.

Governor Brad Henry made the announcement Wednesday as he signed a proclamation declaring Friday as POW-MIA Recognition Day in Oklahoma.

Henry says it is only appropriate to honor those who suffered hardships as prisoners of war and those who remain unaccounted for.

More than 88,000 Americans -- including 40 Oklahomans -- who fought in World War Two and since remain unaccounted for.
