Layoffs by Delta Airlines in Dallas are being felt in Tulsa. Delta announced Wednesday they're cutting 7,000 jobs by drastically downsizing their Dallas hub.

News on 6 learning more Thursday about what this means for Tulsa's International Airport. News on 6 anchor Scott Thompson says Tulsa is losing all five of its daily Delta flights to and from Dallas. That's about 250 passengers in each direction every day.

The good news is "American Airlines" plans to add two new flights to Dallas that should help get Dallas commuters to town on time. And Delta's not pulling out of Tulsa completely. To compensate for losing their Dallas hub, Delta is adding a flight to each of its other hubs in Atlanta, Cincinnati, and Salt Lake City.

Airport officials say while no flight cuts are "good" for passengers, some travelers have already found different ways to Dallas.

TIA marketing manager Mary Smith: "Dallas is a big connection for the Tulsa traveler. However, a lot of people over the last couple of years have decided to drive between Tulsa and Dallas and other short routes like Oklahoma City and Dallas.”

The flights to Dallas aren't gone yet. One will leave in the next 30 days; the rest will be gone by the end of January.
