EDMOND, Okla. (AP) _ Undergraduate scholarships at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond receive a $50,000 boost from an Oklahoma City-based energy company.
The gift from Chesapeake Energy Corporation was announced Friday during a ceremony on the UCO campus.
The company will donate $10,000 each year for the next five years to help fund scholarships for qualified undergraduate students from Oklahoma.
Chesapeake Senior Vice President Tom Price Junior says the company hopes students who benefit from the scholarships will stay in Oklahoma after graduating.
Chesapeake has donated nearly $700,000 over the last year to enhance scholarship programs at six Oklahoma colleges. They also gave $500,000 to assist energy and research programs at the University of Oklahoma.
