OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A man facing a first-degree rape charge decides to represent himself and is found guilty by an Oklahoma County district judge.
37-year-old Christopher Hunt was charged in a 1998 assault on a Edmond woman.
The woman attended a party at an Edmond apartment complex and ran into Hunt on her way home. Hunt took her to another apartment and raped her.
Investigators had no leads in the case until a national DNA database matched evidence from the crime to Hunt. Hunt was already serving time in Kansas for another sex offense.
Hunt was charged with the crime in May 2003. On Tuesday, he waived his right to a jury trial and told the judge he wanted to represent himself.
Hunt says he couldn't trust the two public defenders assigned to his case.
He will be sentenced at 9 A-M on November Eighth.
