OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Oklahoma City Police issued an Amber Alert Friday evening following the abduction of the little boy.
Authorities say the child was in the back seat of a 1999 red Pontiac Grand Prix that was stolen. The child's mother left the child in the car when she went to Southern Hills Elementary School to get another child.
The car was located shortly before 8 PM and a suspect was taken into custody. The child was found later in his car seat on the city's southwest side. Paramedics have been dispatched to examine him.
An Amber Alert is a child abduction emergency. It is named after Amber Hagerman, a 9-year-old Arlington, Texas, girl who was kidnapped and killed in 1996.
Authorities link the recovery of at least 134 children since 1999 to the Amber Alert system.
