One man is in the Tulsa County jail after robbing a convenience store early Thursday morning. It's a situation that went from bad to worse.
Tulsa Police received an armed-robbery call at a store in the 6500 block of Charles Page Boulevard just before 2 AM. The clerk told authorities he was robbed at knife point. A few minutes later an off-duty officer spotted a driver he suspected was driving under the influence. That's when things got interesting.
Tulsa Police Capt Eric Daglish: “apparently the suspect noticed that he was being followed, and threw his vehicle in reverse and attempted to back into the off duty police officer's car. On duty officers arrived. When they confronted the suspect, he attempted to flee on foot. They were able to take him into custody after a short time. And discovered that he was the suspect in the armed robbery on Charles Page".
Once in a Tulsa County Sheriff’s deputy's car, the suspect tried to kick out the windshield.
Police say they found large amounts of money, beer and cigarettes in the suspect’s vehicle.
