McALESTER, Okla. (AP) -- Oklahoma City bomber Terry Nichols is back in federal custody Tuesday.
Pittsburg County authorities say Nichols was turned over to federal marshals Tuesday morning.
Undersheriff Richard Sexton says Nichols was taken to McAlester Regional Airport and flown to a federal prison. Sexton says he doesn't know where Nichols was taken.
Nichols was convicted on 161 state murder charges, arson and conspiracy for his role in the 1995 bombing. Prosecutors sought the death penalty but the jury could not reach a unanimous verdict and he was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
He's already serving life without parole on federal convictions for his part in the bombing.
