Schools all over Stillwater opened their doors Wednesday, all except for one. Student who go to Skyline Elementary have to wait another week for their first day of class.
The reason for the delay is that the school is still in the middle of a $5.6-million renovation.
Last week, school officials were told by the architect and the contractor that the school would be ready, but when Stillwater Schools’ Superintendent Walt Swanson stopped by for an inspection, he decided it wasn't quite ready for the students. "We weren't ready to open the school because there is too much dust; we have kids with allergies and asthma. And they haven't completed the fire alarm installation and test."
The fire marshal inspected the fire alarms Wednesday and Skyline students will head back to school next Wednesday.
