OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Oklahoma City School District officials are hoping they can save money in utility costs again this year by starting the school year later.

Last year, the district saved about $125,000 with a later start.

Moving the first of school from mid-August to early September in Tulsa two years ago saved that district more than $380,000.

Oklahoma City typically spends more than $400,000 on electricity in August when school starts earlier in the month.

The district spends more than $5-million a year on electricity, natural gas and water.

Tulsa Public Schools spends about $6.2-million a year on utilities.
