Recent crimes involving teens bring up questions about Tulsa's curfew. Specifically, curfew violations.
Tulsa's curfew is 11 on Sunday through Thursday nights. Its midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
Tulsa Police Corporal Greg Smith says a grant pays for overtime for officers to enforce the curfew on weekends along Memorial Drive, which has become a popular place for teens. “A lot of mischief may happen that wouldn't necessarily happen if youths weren't out. They may become victims even because they are out at a time when things might happen to them."
Exceptions to Tulsa's curfew are made for teens returning home directly from school, church or work functions. Kids violating the curfew can get a citation and have to go to municipal court.
It is possible parents could face citations if their kids repeatedly break curfew.
