GUTHRIE, Okla. (AP) _ A Guthrie woman trying to save her dog has died after being struck and killed by a train.

72-year-old Coleeta J-Hudson was hit by a Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway train about 7:30 Saturday morning near State Highway 77 and Beemer Road in Guthrie.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol Lieutenant Brandon Kopepasah says Hudson's home is about 75 feet from the tracks.

He says it appeared she was trying to pull the dog away from the tracks. The dog was also killed.

Kopepasah says Hudson was alongside the train, and the engineer was probably unaware he struck the woman.
