The Tulsa City Council will name a subcommittee tonight to investigate the city's dealings with Great Plains Airlines.
A federal investigation determined the airport subsidized the bankrupt airline in violation of federal rules. In a letter to US Senator Jim Inhofe - the Inspector General urged quick action.
The letter says "we are concerned; some officials are awaiting our ‘final’ report. We want to make it clear our (first) report was issued with the expectation that local officials would initiate corrective actions."
After the report, airport director Brent Kitchen was suspended by the mayor.
The city council wants to investigate if other action is needed.
