Authorities are still searching for the body of a man presumed dead after the boat he was driving collided with another boat on Grand Lake near Disney Saturday night.
They say 60-year-old Bruce Chapman apparently swerved into another boat and capsized near the dam. His friend, 62-year-old Chuck Browning somehow managed to hold on to the boat throughout the night as it drifted up against the dam, but authorities didn't find him and assumed the boat had made it to shore.
It wasn't until 10 hours later that KRMG radio host John Erling spotted Browning, and pulled him to safety.
Erling says it was sheer luck that he had his own boat on the water, because it was gloomy weather, and he doesn't usually go near the dam, but his relatives wanted to see it. "He was one lucky man, because he didn't lose consciousness overnight, but who knows how long he could have held on like that."
