ROLAND, Okla. (AP) _ A Sallisaw man has died after being involved in a single-vehicle accident on I-40 near Roland.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 34-year-old Gary Warwick died Sunday night after being transported to a nearby hospital.

Troopers say Garwick was a passenger in the pickup truck when it struck the curb of a bridge. The driver overcorrected and hit a guard rail at about 11:15 Sunday night.

The truck traveled nearly 40 feet on the guard rail before dropping about 35 feet below the bridge and rolling.

Warwick and the driver, who is listed in stable condition, were pinned in the truck for several hours before being freed by rescue crews.

Troopers say the driver smelled of alcohol.
