CHICKASHA, Okla. (AP) _ A sheriff's deputy arrested a man on charges of cruelty to animals and public intoxication after he allegedly killed a 4 1/2-foot-long pet python.
Steven Louis Rainer, 21, was arrested Thursday night by Grady County sheriff's Cpl. John D. Foster.
Rainer had been drinking and had become involved in a domestic disturbance involving his girlfriend, Foster said.
The girlfriend went to a next door neighbor's house.
Rainer took the non-venomous snake out of its aquarium in his home and went to his neighbor's home. When he was told that the girlfriend did not want to speak to him, he beat the snake against the ground, Foster said.
