LAWTON, Okla. (AP) _ Comanche County prosecutors have charged a 14-year-old boy as an adult in connection with a fatal shooting.

Jacinto Flores Martinez told his father he was sorry during an initial court appearance on Friday.

Authorities allege Martinez shot Norman Pratt, 38, Thursday afternoon. Police questioned several people who may have witnessed the 3 p.m. shooting, including Martinez's 13-year-old cousin.

Police took Martinez into custody without incident about five hours later at his residence.

A .380-caliber automatic pistol also was recovered, police Capt. W.H. Mathis said.

``It was determined that this individual was involved in the shooting,'' Mathis said.

Martinez's father, grandfather and an aunt appeared with him to sign paperwork explaining that Martinez was being charged as an adult but could later petition the court to be reverse-certified as a youthful offender.

The boy's father and aunt declined to comment.

Martinez is being detained at the Comanche County Detention Center which has a juvenile facility, Mathis said.
