The city of Tulsa demolishes a crack house. For Tulsa, it's a first of its kind effort to stop drug dealing.

News on 6 reporter Emory Bryan says in the past - there have been so many legal hurdles to overcome, it's been impractical for the city to pursue demolition as a way to run out drug dealers.

Thursday morning, the city knocked down a house at 259 East Seminole with a long record as a crack house. That has hurt the neighborhood for years. The neighbors say it was used every night for drug deals - and the police have been there dozens of times.

Russell Gray with city of Tulsa Neighborhood Inspections: “This was a drug house, the owner admitted that in court, but this particular house was in such poor physical condition that it was declared a public nuisance as a dilapidated structure. “

The complaints started years ago, and the process to demolish the house started early this year. The neighbors say they are very happy with Thursday’s demolition.
