The heat may be to blame for a fiery accident on the Turner Turnpike near Kellyville Monday afternoon.
A semi was headed east when one of its front tires blew out. The driver lost control, and the truck threw debris into traffic as it scraped down the center barrier wall. The truck eventually crashed into a guardrail and caught fire.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper Ben Chapman: "Anytime the weather and we get temperatures in excess of 90 degrees, if there's any character flaws in a vehicle, such as tires, belts, hoses, this is the time of year it's gonna happen."
Traffic was backed up for miles on the Turner Turnpike for hours. No one was hurt.
