(Oklahoma City-AP) -- An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper was placed on administrative leave with pay after shooting and killing a suspect that charged officers.
Lieutenant Brandon Kopepasah says the trooper shot and killed a 22-year-old male who accelerated his vehicle toward the trooper after a police chase ended early yesterday.
Troopers had stopped the car and were attempting to walk toward it when the suspect began to accelerate.
The name of the victim and the trooper have not been released.
A passenger in the suspect's car was taken into custody. He was uninjured.
The Oklahoma County District Attorney's office will investigate the incident. That investigation could take several weeks.
