Many of you have helped the News on 6 Raise The Grade for local kids this summer, book by book.

The News on 6 and our sister station in Oklahoma City teamed up to put books in the hands of children all across the state and thanks to your help, it's been a big success. We've collected more than 2,600 books for kids so far.

News on 6 anchor LeAnne Taylor hosted a check presentation Monday, during which the Bank of Oklahoma gave "Volunteers of America" and the Tulsa City County Library $1,000 checks to buy even more books.

Elaine Dishman with Volunteers of America: "If we can put books in the hands of children when they are young, we will have a tremendous impact on literacy in this state and help individuals become better educated and more well-rounded and able to work and become responsible citizens of our state."

You still have time to help. You can drop off new or gently used books at any BOK branch in the state through Wednesday.
