Tulsa's getting some crime fighting help. It’s a team of federal agents from various departments.
US Attorney General John Ashcroft announced Thursday morning that Tulsa is one of 15 cities getting a ‘Violent Crime Impact Team.’ Their job is to aid local officers in identifying and arresting the city’s most wanted criminals.
US Attorney for the Northern District of Oklahoma David O'Meilia: “No matter how many agents you get to participate and task forces, you can always use more manpower and that I think is the significant aspect of the VCIT."
The teams are made up of ATF agents, US Marshals and federal prosecutors. They will be in Tulsa for about six months.
