The US Census Bureau estimates Tulsa's population has shrunk for the third straight year.

That's despite the fact most major cities in the state, including Oklahoma City, have grown. Tulsa Deputy Mayor Steve Sewell says the drop in Tulsa's population reflects downsizing and relocating by companies.

However, Tulsa's suburbs continue to grow. Bixby, Jenks and Owasso all showed increases. Tulsa is estimated to have nearly 523,000 residents.

Oklahoma City showed a 1% increase in its population.
