One Tulsa retailer has stepped forward to support education in our community. Tuesday, JC Penney presented a grant for $5,000 to the Tulsa Salvation Army's Boys and Girls Club.
The money will be used for the Power Hour program. Power Hour serves as a homework assistance program for students age six through 18 and is designed to motivate and improve student’s homework skills.
Rosemary Brown with the Salvation Army: "Helping children, gives them an edge, grandparents or older siblings who can't help them with that."
The Tulsa grant is one of 160 grants being presented by Penney's to Boys and Girls clubs across the country.
