A Stillwater housing development project is shut down after the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality discovered potentially hazardous materials.
It happened Monday night after someone alerted DEQ of a dozen barrels on the property. The News on 6 was told ten are empty but the other two contain liquid. The DEQ says the barrels are labeled sodium hydroxide, a highly corrosive chemical.
The developer tells us the barrels were already on the property when he purchased it.
