(Cheyenne, Wyoming-AP) -- Survivors and descendants of those caught in the 1921 Tulsa race riot are asking a federal appeals court to reinstate their lawsuit.
A panel of federal judges heard the appeal Monday afternoon.
A federal judge in Tulsa dismissed the lawsuit in March, saying the statute of limitations expired years ago.
About 150 riot survivors and 300 descendants of those who died or lost property in the riot filed the lawsuit against the city of Tulsa and the state of Oklahoma. They argue the statute of limitations shouldn't apply because they didn't have information for the lawsuit until 2001.
