GREENWICH, Conn. (AP) _ Brothers Evan and Ross Naess are so active in the local teen center that their mother offered to help out with a fund-raiser there by offering a free concert. That's what happens when your mom is Diana Ross.
The Supreme diva recently phoned Kyle Silver, director of the Arch Street Teen Center, and said she viewed the concert as a gift to the town as a way to kick off the summer.
``For a second I thought it was a joke,'' Silver said. ``I mean, when does that ever happen?''
The concert is scheduled for Thursday at the Roger Sherman Baldwin Park, which is adjacent to the nonprofit teen center. While the concert is free, there are more than 300 passes to a special reception with Ross after the show that are selling for $250. All funds raised will benefit the teen center.
Silver said Ross' sons are at the teen center every week.
``Evan was involved in teaching a hip-hop dance class, and Ross is very active in the Young Life program,'' he said.
It's not the first time Ross has helped out the town. Six years ago, she performed a benefit at Greenwich Academy, where her daughter Chudney Silberstein, attended.
