Plenty of military men spent Father's Day away from their children. But some Oklahomans are doing good for children in Afghanistan.

In fact, one Green Country family got to see their father's work. News on 6 reporter Emory Bryan says Kim Miller's husband didn't make it home for Father's Day. Kim Miller: "I miss him terribly.” But Kim and the children got a glimpse of what he's doing in Afghanistan. Kim: "He looks great.” Chris Miller: "And we're gathering school supplies."

Kim's husband serves with Oklahoma's 45th infantry - helping deliver goodies to orphans in Kabul, Afghanistan. Our camera captured what thoughtful Oklahomans donated - being put to good use. Kim Miller: "They took these orphans under their wings.”

Sgt Miller's family is proud of what he's doing. But that doesn't mean a family doesn't miss a soldier. Kim Miller: "The month of May was terrible."

Miller and the rest of the 45th plan to be home by this September at the very latest. In the meantime - they believe a father's work couldn't be better spent with a child - no matter where.
