The Oklahoma Supreme Court has rejected a former police chemist's appeal for unemployment benefits.
Joyce Gilchrist was fired in 2001 by the Oklahoma City Police Department. Part of her firing was based on a judge's published opinion that her testimony in a criminal trial was untrue. The trial dealt with DNA evidence. That prompted an investigation into Gilchrist's work.
The state high court says her conduct in the criminal case was "misconduct" and sufficient to support denying her unemployment benefits.
