A Bixby family is waiting on a decision from a review board that will decide what's next for a police officer who shot their dog last weekend.
A review board looked over evidence and read witness statements last Friday and will present a report to the Bixby police chief Monday.
Meanwhile, John Benzinger says he and his family have been overwhelmed with the outpouring of compassion and support in their time of grief.
"I'd like to publicly thank all those who have expressed concern for our family it's been wonderful."
John says many News on 6 viewers have offered to buy them a new dog, others just want to express their sympathy for what happened.
John says they have their own ideas on what should happen to Officer Cory Forister who shot his dog Fluppy who was tethered in their backyard. He says the Bixby officer should at least be retrained on when and how to use a firearm so something like this won't happen again.
"We'd love to hear an apology directly from him. We think retraining would be in order and we've got financial things that are probably gonna come up that we feel they should pick up the tab on that."
Fluppy had to be put to sleep after Forister shot him three times last week.
The golden retriever is still at the vet's office until the family decides what they want to do with him.
