(Bixby-AP) -- Bixby police expect a decision next week on whether to reprimand an officer who shot a family's golden retriever while it was tied to a fence.
Officer Cory Forister appeared before the police department's review board yesterday. The board will interview witnesses and review reports before making a decision about Forister.
The officer was investigating a burglar alarm at a Bixby home when he shot the dog, which he says was running at him.
Police Chief Anthony Stephens says he expects a decision Monday or Tuesday.
Stephens says the department is examining the incident because of its use-of-deadly-force policy and to figure out to prevent it from happening again.
