WASHINGTON (AP) _ Old Navy, the San Francisco-based clothing company, is recalling various zippered outerwear for children because the clear, oval-shapped zipper pulls can come off and cause a choking hazard.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Tuesday there have been 13 reports of the zipper pulls coming off and one report of a child mouthing the object. No injuries have been reported.
Old Navy, in cooperation with the CPSC, is recalling 666,000 units of the garments sold in Old Navy stores and on the company's Web site nationwide from November 2003 through May 2004. The outerwear was sold in sizes 6 months to 4T and was manufactured in Korea, Vietnam and Philippines.
The following style numbers, printed on a white label sewn into the garment, are being recalled: 210209, fur trim coat; 210210, 1/2 zip mock neck fleece pullover; 210211, 1/2 zip mock fleece pullover, floral; 210212, 1/2 zip mock neck fleece pullover, striped; 210672, frost free jacket; 210673, quilted fur coat and 210228, fleece jumper hoodie.
Consumers should return the outerwear to any Old Navy store for a refund and a complimentary $5 card. Consumers can call Old Navy at 1-866-580-9930 for more information.
