(Oklahoma City-AP) -- The grace period for pharmacies to move pseudoephedrine tablets behind store counters or in a locked case is now over.
Pseudoephedrine is found in many common cold medications and the tablets are a key ingredient in making methamphetamine.
A bill passed by the Legislature and signed into law by Governor Henry allows the tablets to be sold only by pharmacists to people who provide a photo ID and a signature.
A two-month grace period for pharmacies to move the tablets behind the counter or to a secure location in the store expired Sunday.
Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs spokesman Mark Woodward meth lab seizures are down significantly since the law passed.
