(Red Rock, Oklahoma-AP) -- A mountain lion from Wyoming has turned up dead in Oklahoma.

It's the first confirmed mountain lion in about 100 years in the Red Rock, Oklahoma, area about 40 miles south of Arkansas City, Kansas. Wildlife officials say it apparently was hit by a train.

Authorities say the animal almost certainly traveled through Kansas. They determined that because the lion had a tracking collar. It had last been recorded in September, in the Black Hills of eastern Wyoming.

That means the lion traveled more than 650 miles. Wildlife experts say that's twice as far as any collared mountain lion has been known to roam.
