(Oklahoma City-AP) -- The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is encouraging people to have designated drivers in cars and boats over Memorial Day weekend.
The highway patrol will watch out for drivers without seat belts and pay special attention to people who speed and drive under the influence of alcohol.
OHP spokesman Lieutenant Chris West says Memorial Day weekend fatalities have declined in the past five years.
Seven people died last year over the holiday weekend. Four of the seven weren't using safety equipment.
