(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Republican Congressman Tom Cole says he's running for re-election.

Cole said Tuesday his top priority will be protecting military bases in his Fourth District. The Pentagon is planning another round of base closings and realignment.

Cole is a former state senator and secretary of state and the son of the late state Senator Helen Cole.

He defeated Democrat Darryl Roberts in 2002 to win his first term in Congress.
