OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Gov. Brad Henry on Monday appointed Muskogee resident Thomas Alford as district judge in the 15th Judicial District in Muskogee County.
The 54-year-old Alford succeeds James Edmondson, whom the governor appointed in December to the Oklahoma Supreme Court.
Alford, who currently serves as associate district judge, was picked from among three candidates whose names were submitted to Henry by the Judicial Nominating Commission.
``Thomas Alford possesses the impeccable experience and expertise to be a truly outstanding jurist,'' Henry said.
Alford graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1972 and earned his law degree from there four years later. He has been an associate district judge of Muskogee County since 1985. Prior to that, he was in private practice, and from 1978 to 1980 served as an assistant district attorney in Muskogee County.
