(Lawton-AP) -- The U-S Army is honoring Fort Sill soldiers who were aboard a helicopter that was brought down by hostile fire in Iraq last November.
Six members of Fort Sill's Second Battalion, Fifth Field Artillery died and six others were injured when their C-H-47 Chinook helicopter crashed November second.
They were all honored in a ceremony Friday in which Purple Hearts and Bronze Stars were given out.
Among the survivors was Sergeant David Tennant, who was headed home to visit his pregnant wife.
Tennant says he only remembers the engine compartment being hit, a fire and the helicopter's descent. He suffered pelvic fractures, a shattered right ankle, a spinal compression and other injuries.
Tennant underwent surgery at a German hospital before being flown to the United States for additional care.
He's still undergoing physical therapy.
