The city plans to replace the missing parking meters downtown, even though one man is leading a petition drive against them.
Kent Morlan thinks the city - and downtown businesses would be better off without the meters. He's gathering signatures that support his position. About half of downtown's parking meters aren't working, because vandals break them open to steal the money inside.
"The city of Tulsa seems dead set to go back and put them in at great expense. My point is let’s have an experiment, let's take them all down and give everybody 2 hours free parking."
Many downtown businesses like the meters - because they keep people from parking all day. That's a growing problem, because with the missing meters - the parking is free.
