(Oklahoma City-AP) -- The Associated Press erroneously reported on May 19th that a bill signed by Governor Brad Henry authorizing cities to allow the disabled to drive golf carts on city streets was the result of a situation in Claremore.
The bill signed by the governor allows cities to give golf carts access to specific intersections or railroad crossings. State Senator Randy Brogdon of Owasso says the bill doesn't address the situation in Claremore in which a man with cerebral palsy was ticketed for driving his golf cart on city streets when he went to work.
Brogdon says two bills written in response to the case in Claremore authorize cities to allow the disabled to use golf carts on city streets and are still in conference committee.
