Extra OHP troopers will be on the road on Memorial Day weekend

We have more than a week until the Memorial Day Weekend, but Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers are already making plans.

Extra troopers will be out on state highways during the holiday weekend. They'll mostly be on the lookout for speeders and people not wearing seat belts. State troopers say speed is a big factor in most accidents.

They say drivers need to be alert. OHP trooper Jon Moser: "If we have people watching what they are doing, paying attention to what they're doing, where they are at. It's going to cut down on the chance of fatality accidents."

So far this year, 268 people have died on Oklahoma roads. That's 50 more than a year ago at this time.
