Some Oklahoma servicemen and women got some much deserved recognition this weekend.

Sunday marked the third annual "Celebration of Service" at Memorial Park. It was a chance for people to express their appreciation to Oklahomans who have served in the military.

John Thomason is a Navy veteran. Years after his service, he received a number of medals and ribbons, including the Silver Star for heroism in combat during World War II. He says he never thought about awards in the time since the war, he was just serving his country. "Well, it feels nice to know people still remember things."

Colonel Ernest Childers was also honored. He's Oklahoma's only living Medal of Honor recipient. He lives in Broken Arrow.
