(Jay-AP) -- The state agency that certifies law enforcement officials says the Delaware County sheriff could lose his certification if convicted of resisting arrest.
Sheriff Lenden Woodruff is charged with misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence, resisting arrest, transporting an open container and transporting a loaded firearm while intoxicated.
The attorney for the Oklahoma Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training says he'll decide whether to revoke Woodruff's certification, if the sheriff is convicted.
Oklahoma sheriffs are required to be certified police officers. Losing certification would mean Woodruff could not be a sheriff or police officer in the state for five years.
