(Claremore-AP) -- A bill proposed in the state House would change Oklahoma's system for licensing young drivers.
Experts and state officials agree the system needs to be better, but they disagree on whether the bill proposed provides the right changes to improve it.
House Bill 2352 would require teens under 18 to hold a learner's permit and ride with an older licensed driver for six months before getting a full license.
Currently, 16-year-olds only have to hold a permit for 30 days before getting a license.
Those age 16-and-a-half and older don't even need a permit or a driver education class as long as they don't have any traffic violations.
Critics say older drivers would be inconvenienced if they had to ride along with young drivers for six months.
