A murder suspect shot by Tulsa Police Wednesday morning, died after surgery late Wednesday afternoon.
The Northeast Oklahoma Fugitive Task Force was looking for a suspect in a weekend murder. They were trying to serve an arrest warrant on Luis Lara-Martinez at an apartment near 44th and Garnett.
Officers say he took off running when he saw them. They say he turned around and pointed the gun at the officers when they shot him.
Detectives say Martinez was the prime suspect in this weekend's murder of Anthony Overstreet. His body was found dumped in field in east Tulsa.
Officers had already arrested Elizabeth Jacob in connection with the murder.
In addition to the criminal investigation, there will also be an internal affairs investigation.
