That giant Hereford steer that has guarded the corner of 15th and Utica in Tulsa for more than 30 years is resting at his new home.

The News on 6's Rick Wells was on hand Wednesday morning as the new owner took his prize Hereford home. Craig Downing: "A friend of mine told me he's seen it on TV. We go to sales. I kind of buy the different stuff. He thought I had to have it, so I went and bought it."

Talk to Craig Downing's daughter, he does this kind of thing all the time. But you know, if you buy it you gotta get it home. He hired a crane from Bennett Steel and brought along some friends. He found a couple of hooks on the steer's back once he got the crane hooked to it, the rest was easy.

Moving a steer this size in the middle of the morning is an attention getter, people parked and watched. Work stopped at the bank across the street, even some of the local livestock stopped by.

Once they got it bolted and tied down, well, from that point on it was a cattle drive. Downing: "It'll either stay on the farm or there is a ranch out here on highway 20 by 75. It might end up there, or it might show up in a parade. Half the fun is getting it home, and I got that part done:"
