Lieutenant Governor Mary Fallin says saving money is not a reason to send fewer women to prison in Oklahoma.
Fallin says the only reason to lock up fewer women is if they're committing fewer crimes. The comments came following a vote by a special task force for women incarcerated in Oklahoma.
The task force suggested the state should change its policies to keep women out of prison.
But in a dissenting report, Fallin says felons are felons. Whether they're male or female.
