A 4-year-old Creek County boy is dead after fire swept through his family's mobile home Tuesday morning in the small Creek County community of Silver City.
Firefighters say they arrived at the home of Kenny and Mary Chidester to find it completely engulfed in flames. The couple was outside, the father burned, the mother in a state of shock. They said little Kevin was still inside.
After hours of searching the rubble, officials found his body Tuesday afternoon.
The couple's two other children were safe at school when the fire broke out. Olive School principal Craig McVay: "We have long-time teachers who had both their mom and dad in school and they've been part of this community for a long, long time. Mom and Dad both went to school here. It's pretty tough for the entire community."
No cause yet on the fire, but the couple told fire crews they had been using a wood stove and space heaters for heat.
Olive School officials have set up a relief fund for the family.... Spirit Bank Attn: Olive Classroom Teachers Association 601 N Main Bristow, Oklahoma
