Soldier from Fort Sill dies in Iraq

(McAlester-AP) -- A soldier assigned to Fort Sill died over the weekend in Iraq from a non-hostile gunshot wound.

Army Staff Sergeant Roland L. Castro of San Antonio, Texas, died Friday night in Camp Cedar Two in Iraq.

The incident is under investigation, according to the Department of Defense.

The 26-year-old is the first reported casualty from Fort Sill this year.

17 soldiers from Fort Sill died in the war last year, including 6 killed in a single helicopter crash.
