Tulsa Police are investigating why Paul Rico's body was taken to a funeral home rather than the medical examiner's office after he died Friday night.
Rico is the former FBI agent charged with murdering Tulsa businessman Roger Wheeler in 1981. He was brought to Tulsa last week by private medical jet and was housed in the jail's medical ward until being taken to Hillcrest where he died three days later.
State law requires all inmates in custody to have an autopsy. However, Rico's body was sent to a funeral home. Police later arranged for the medical examiner to pick up Rico's body for an autopsy, which is pending.
